ISSUE: Food & Gravity
Dear reader,
There is no need for them to tell you that we are living in a time of total abolition of the world, a frenzied race towards the inevitable. The beginning of the end starts here, in the year 2131.
It has been 105 years since our founders published the sixth issue of Food & Magazine, the year of unprecedented unpredictability. Then, our world was infected with great plagues, old and new: the rise of COVID 19, white supremacy and the climate crisis. We pretended not to see all the signs that warned us of what was happening. Cruel dictators have bombarded humanity with fake news, obliterating all love, logic and truth. Unsurprisingly, historians have called this age "Fire and Ice": cold-hearted people in a world that heats up rapidly, melting all that was once good.
And so, as the story goes, thawed ice flooded the Earth. Our old world was destroyed by a small speck of ash that fluttered through space. You can see him often, dancing in the frosted windows of our lunar space stations, those little towns built as an emergency refuge by the last remaining humans: our grandparents.
But running away from this earth disaster didn't mean the problem was gone. Today we face the repercussions of the failures of our ancestors, The Great Gravitational Collapse. As climate change in the cosmos persists, it erodes the intermagnetic structure of our mini-verse with it, deforming the volatile belt between Mars and Jupiter and causing asteroids to push towards the Moon, our new home. If the solar system continues to catapult in this dangerous direction, then this number could be the last.
With disaster in mind, we have created a whimsical and discreet catalog of doomsday, memories and reflections on food, a goodbye kiss to Mother Earth as we once knew her. So lock yourself in your closest G-zero reading pod available, pour yourself a cup of vacuum-infused evaporated chai, and while you forget that the universe is collapsing around you, enjoy.
