70 percent is a new independent Italian magazine born from an idea of the art directors Cecilia Bianchini and Giovanni Cavalleri.
From the mini format, which marries well the topic it deals with, 70 percent is the first entomological literature magazine in augmented reality.
But why a magazine dedicated to the world of insects?
It is said that for every person on the planet there are 200 million insects and that these make up 70% of the animal species. These teeming creatures are the litmus papers of our life on earth. Ours are inscribed in their existence habits and beliefs. So an ant soup can take us to Brazil, with the Dung Beetle we can talk about self-creationism and Ancient Egypt, then returning to modern times in which bees are witnesses of global warming.
IThe second issue of 70 percent is dedicated to Xylocopa Violacea - commonly known as the blue carpenter bee, a solitary bee that lives in old pieces of wood or in the stems of large plants. The words of this edition have been entrusted to Valerio Millefoglie.
Also in this issue of the magazine, thanks to augmented reality, the symbol of Xylocopa Violacea, which nestles between the pages of the magazine, comes to life when framed with a smartphone.
SPECIAL EDITION
In addition to the basic edition, you will also find a special edition of 70 percent available.
From the second issue onwards, 70 percent collaborates with the artist and jewelry designer Margherita Chinchio, who expands the theme of each issue by creating an accessory.
For this issue Margherita designed a brooch, starting from a specimen of Xylocopa that she treated with the electroforming technique. The insect was then cast in aluminum and was finally anodized.
The brooches were produced in only 20 pieces and come in a special edition of the issue, where the jewel and the booklet are contained in a box finished in linen designed by Andrea Bocca and handcrafted by a craftsman from Cremona.
