A MAGAZINE curated by is a biannual publication that explores the creative sphere of a single fashion designer for each issue, invited to take care of every aspect, from graphics to content. Each edition celebrates the ethics of this artist (be it an individual, a group or a fashion house): his passion, his stories, emotions, spontaneity and authenticity.
Come tale, A MAGAZINE curated by it is a totally free and dynamic publication, a cultural declaration for individuality in an increasingly homogeneous sector.
ISSUE 22 - Grace Wales Bonner
RHAPSODY IN THE STREET
The new issue of A magazine Curated By was curated by Anglo-Jamaican designer Grace Wales Bonner, who founded her eponymous label Wales Bonner in London in 2014.
From her debut Ebonics collection in 2015 to the most recent Volta Jazz collection for SS2022, Grace has imbued her designs with cultural narratives that explore Black Culture around the world. His collections for Wales Bonner and the performative nature of their presentations capture a multitude of identities and expressions of beauty.
Entitled Rhapsody In The Street, A # 22 is a 200-page academic and visual investigation of Grace's research. Responding to the tradition of 20th-century black poetry, literature and portrait photography, the issue features a selection of archival portfolios and other historical items, as well as newly commissioned essays, poems, paintings and portraits.
A # 22 is treated as a tortuous and encyclopedic document, which includes research work and archival documentation in dialogue with new commentaries by academics and poets.
Furthermore, in collaboration with the Maison Européenne de la Photographie, inside the magazine there is a limited edition print of a shot by the Cameroonian photographer, based in Paris, Samuel Fosso.
With great care from the point of view of editorial design, matt and glossy paper supports with gilded pages are combined.
