Public (R) is a photographic magazine of the McWhirter studio, Alex Mc Whirter's creative direction agency that works mainly in New York. Here he works with well-known brands such as Nike, Calvin Klein and with institutions such as Suzanne Geiss Gallery, Cultural Traffic, Magnum Photos.
Public is an annual magazine of experimental fashion photography, which focuses on the humanity of models. For each issue McWhirter collects the works of some of the best photographers of his circuit, and has only one rule: each subject must be unique, the theme of a photo never repeats itself.
ISSUE 3
The third issue of PUBLIC is a limited edition of 150 copies featuring five portfolios by photographers Siân Davey, Frank Lebon, Guinevere van Seenus, Tom Wood and Jack Webb, with stylistic contributions by Gary David Moore and Roxane Danset.
In a unique collaboration, Siân Davey works with fashion designer Gary David Moore to describe youth and innocence. He revisits his daughter Martha as the subject, now 21, in a series of portraits at their family home in Devon (Siân's original series "Martha" was exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in London and captured her daughter at the age of 16). Frank Lebon explores the dynamics of family relationships, having documented an intimate family vacation last summer in Spain for this project. Legendary supermodel Guinevere van Seenus collaborates with fashion designer Roxane Danset to capture a series of self-portraits that form a thoughtful study of herself as a strong, middle-aged woman. And finally, Jack Webb explores the emotional ups and downs between a group of friends and family on a night out in a Yorkshire pub, captured in 1996.
The magazine is entirely photographic.
