Adbusters Media Foundation is a Canadian non-profit organization founded in 1989 by Kalle Lasn and Bill Schmalz in Vancouver. Adbusters describes itself as "a global network of artists, activists, writers, pranksters, students, educators and entrepreneurs who want to advance the new movement of information age social activists."
Openly anti-capitalist, he publishes Adbusters, a committed, ad-free magazine supported solely by readers.
"We are an international collective of activists, artists, writers, designers, musicians, philosophers, poets, punks and wild hearts.
Join us to defeat Big Tech. Clean up the toxic areas of our mental environment. Reverse the upward flow of wealth. Punish any company that betrays public trust. Holding corrupt politicians accountable. It awakens a reckless and complacent culture. Fight the psychological conquest of the all-seeing advertising surveillance industry. Unfollow and retweet. . . start thinking, speaking and acting for ourselves "
ISSUE 155 -
A NEW RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PEOPLE AND CORPORATIONS
We People have lost control.
Corporations, these legal fictions that we ourselves created two centuries ago, now rule us. And we accept it as the normal state of affairs.
Let's go to the guilds on our knees: "Please do the right thing, please. Please don't cut down other ancient forests. Please don't pollute lakes and rivers anymore (but please don't move your factories and jobs either. 'abroad). Please don't use pornographic images to sell fashion to my children. Please don't pit governments against each other to get a better deal. "
We have spent so much time bowing deference that we have forgotten how to stand.
In this issue, we set out a plan to take back our sovereignty, restore our dignity. . . and make companies work for us, not the other way around. It is a final game that we cannot afford to lose.
