Baroness is a cult object rather than a magazine. IS' one of the leading editorial products of Baron Productions, an English creative agency that collaborates with important international brands such as Helmut Lang, Hostem, Harvey Nichols, Versace and others. The trashy, irreverent and unbridled luxury style is what characterizes this young magazine born from the minds of Matthew Holroyd and Isabella Burley. In each issue one collaborates with a different artist who makes the edition his own and reinterprets a luxury brand in his own way
The resulting artistic product is a magazine-sized art object, new and enriched each time from a unique packaging and presentation.
ISSUE 2 - Sarah Baker x Versace
With the collaboration of the Versace brand that has made it the object of trend in some of its boutiques and an intervention by Donatella Versace herself, this second issue of Baroness is a romantic novel to the nth degree with a powerful dose of the 80s-90s inside. and precious trashy the Versace way.
Released at the end of November 2019 and produced in 1500 pieces, it is the work of Sarah Baker, an iconic American performative artist who in her life went from photography to film to create her own perfume company, Sarah Baker Perfumes.
Under the artistic direction of Stephen Male, Baker wanted to contextualize Versace's style in a real graphic novel of the past, becoming herself as well as the author of the texts also a model for photographs strictly dressed Versace, together with the beauties of Helena Christensen, Simonas Pham, Jonathan Saxby and Meghan Roche. Following the stories of five exuberant characters As they navigate tumultuous affairs, the story begins when American music mogul Angelina Marina, played by Baker herself, receives an unwanted gift, inadvertently opening up a sordid tale of tangled lives and betrayal. Everything is at stake: Angelina's freedom, her daughter's loyalty, her friendship with the Baroness and, even worse, the royalties of her hit single "Spritz Me with Your Love".
Versace put his signature on this Baker work who perfectly manages to embody his style as well as to dress his clothes. The magazine arrives in a Versace black cardboard box and is contained in a touch of tissue paper that gives it a fairytale preciousness.
