"Photographs are a means of transport, they make you change continent at a glance".
With these words Vasco Brondi begins to tell us about the photos of Ilaria Magliocchetti Lombi that make up the backbone of Jhalak, the new photographic book published by RVM Hub.

"Jhalak" is an indie term that in Italian we can translate as "glimpse, take a look" and in fact the thick and porous pages of the book offer us just that: a glimpse of an India that is today but, as Vasco reminds us Brondi in his introduction, could be yesterday, tomorrow or even elsewhere.
The book, the result of the author's many journeys to India, therefore has no claim to being exhaustive, and it could not be otherwise when describing one of the most complex and multifaceted countries in the world. Jhalak aaccompanies the reader on a journey away from any stereotype, made up of apparitions, images of everyday life and places, all with the exclusive use of black and white and a game of contrasts and grain that almost give the project immortality and certainly suggest sensations more than telling facts. That of the author is an intimate, almost interior journey, to which is added another journey that we retrace in the words of the singer-songwriter Vasco Brandi (and those who follow him will not struggle to read the text with the same cadence, the same rhythm, which would give him Brondi).

Like any product published by RVM, the book is also flawless in design, with the unbound pages that become posters and which the reader is called to discover by pulling them off the fluorescent orange elastic that holds the book together.
